Job Description:
Paper Mill produces coated freesheet, specialty, uncoated papers used for product packaging, magazine covers, annual reports, high profile advertising inserts, product brochures, and direct mail. We are looking for an Operations Maintenance Gatekeeper (OMG) for our Power and Recovery Department who enjoys a fast-paced environment and has a drive to produce results. The position has primary responsibility to ensure that the direction of the area maintenance work activities reflects value-added tasks that directly make a positive impact on the business unit.
ESSENTIAL
Responsibilities:
Support and promote safety programs and activities.
Reviews maintenance backlog and coordinates value-adding jobs based upon priority and resource availability, including predictive preventative maintenance items.
Create maintenance schedule based on current operations
Assess all maintenance work requests for value and completeness.
Attend maintenance scheduling meetings and provide input on adjustments.
Work closely with area Production Capability Leaders and Process Availability Leaders to understand production needs and opportunities.
Determine the level of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to be done and the resources and documentation required.
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in pulp & paper science, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or a related field or equivalent work experience.
Five (7) years of related paper, operational or manufacturing/industrial experience.
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Competency with standard Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint ), and must become proficient in other programs including: SAP, Proficy, PI, G3PTM, SharePoint, etc.
Thorough understanding of unit operations, equipment and technology.
Aptitude to understand mechanical nature of the business - plant operations, maintenance spending, production commitments, costs, margins, capital projects, small projects and turnarounds.
Ability to lead others effectively. Develop collaborative relationships with crews and coworkers. Give guidance, encouragement and direction to improve performance.
Ability to listen generously and practice open advocacy.
Ability to make a good business decision using relevant information and data to determine the best course of action in a time frame that is consistent with business requirements.
Influence others and facilitate discussions that lead to a collaborative conclusion.
Possess ambulatory capabilities that enable movement around the mill. Climb ladders, catwalks, enter permit required confined spaces, etc.
Bottom Line Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in pulp & paper science, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or a related or equivalent work experience.
2. 5
years of related operations maintenance experience in paper or industrial manufacturing.
3. Competency with standard Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint ), and must become proficient in other programs including: SAP, Proficy, PI, G3PTM, SharePoint, etc.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
